We are hosting a two-part familiarization for the Hollis Prism 2 fully closed circuit rebreather on Thursday July 9 (information session) and Saturday July 11 (pool dives) in Fort Worth. The first part is free to the public and is a presentation by a certified Prism 2 Instructor on the mechanics and operation of the unit, which we believe to be the most advanced and best supported design available. The Prism 2 is routinely used to 500+ feet for exploration and to collect new species of marine life. The Prism 2 will also be discussed in the context of other designs on the market.
The second part, on Saturday, July 9 will consist of the opportunity to dive the unit one-on-one with an Instructor in a pool. The best is never inexpensive and diving a CCR involves the use of consumables in the form of perishable O2 sensors, pure oxygen and scrubber, not to mention wear and tear on an $8,995.00 rebreather. For this there is a charge of $75 if one pre-registers and pays or $100 at the door. A Closed Circuit Rebreather should be thought of as a vehicle to take one places that cannot be reached without this technology, not a means to get more time underwater if one’s air consumption is poor or a frivalous alternative to open circuit scuba. It is a different path. We do not want the curious or tire-kickers for this part. If you have the resources and dedication to enter this world, the test dive is for you. If not, enjoy the free presentation. Feel free to contact either store at (817) 377-3483 or (972) 233-3483 and leave a call back number for Manny if you have any questions.
